Congratulations to all the winners and commendees of the fourth edition of the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators!
The competition ran for the fourth time in February–April 2024. It ran across 4 levels in 5 languages (French, Spanish, German, Italian and Mandarin), covering all year groups at secondary school from age 11 to 18. The competition also runs from French into Welsh.
Over 16,000 students took part in the competition task, and schools submitted the top five entries for each level. Our team of 22 judges, including Oxford Modern Languages undergraduates and leading professional literary translators, then assessed just under 3,600 entries to the competition.
The Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators is an initiative of the Queen’s College Translation Exchange.
